This is a wonderful album to have and the limited edition book with it's superb track-linked photographs is the perfect packaging. This album cover is different to the previous 'arty' covers: quite a surpise / jolt. Brendan Perry's photograph for the cover is well chosen - it makes you think about the music, where it's come from and where it goes (the deep black eyes absorbing all light and not emitting / giving anything). And I like the fact the image is Perry's photograph, his creation and choice for music DCD have created.Regarding the purple vinyl - yes it is translucent, but only in certain states of mind and when you play the music - I could see straight through it, almost as though the vinyl had disappeared. It's a very clean sound production. I love vinyl when it is produced this well. The music is different in that it is 'one piece' in two acts. It is not a collection of beguilingly beautiful songs, there is a sense of progression with this piece of music. The final part of the album (Psychopomp) is a wonderful merging of Lisa's and Brendan's voices - Lisa's voice sounds so beautifully pure in this part.I've always said DCD's music is a gift and I am so glad they are back together again - to perform whatever they want . . .[NOT GRIPES: I would have liked a bit of text, regarding the meaning of the album / Dionysus / perhaps lyrics / personal significance. Also, I wonder where the theatre photo for The Invocation is taken? Is it a fabrication, photoshopped to create an idyl of a past gone? It's not the theatre of Dionysus in Athens as the background would include city.]
...mine is opaque too, not transparent purple as specified on the sticker. Curious?!?
Received my copy today and it is opaque as well. The marketing pic for the set showed a transparent purple vinyl disc. There were delays with this set, so wondering if that vinyl color was part of the reason. Sounds great however!
RED're certainly right, I don't found a transparent copy anywhere throught web.
I can only guess: either the stickers were produced before the vinyl was pressed (which for some reason is not transparent), or the stickers are faulty. The first seems more likely to me.
If Aion and Serpent are your favorites, you’ll love this. It’s their best in decades.
Is the 'purple transparent' vinyl (which the sticker claims) basically opaque IRL, or is this just my copy?
Couple of minutes ago I bought the ordinary Vinyl version. Yes, I was thinking of buying the "deluxe" but I do not see the point of buying it because of the photos - which are without any question good ones! But for the 40€ you'd pay more for the "deluxe" I buy a complete art book with dozens of excellent photos, usually with an introduction, accompanying text etc...!
? I bought the music (ordinary version) because I wanted very weird thing following: LISTEN to the music? I have to confess that I do not get the point with the radio and "for free"? I paid for the record and I listen to the music... So? In addition, I buy books - art and photo books!I still do not get the point the photos in this book and the album... The photos here are rather small but I guess what is beside the photos is the track title....errr...still do not get the connection between the photos and the album. But maybe there is a preface or the like explaining that...
Very "wise" comparison! Why you bought this music? You can get other music for free too! Simply switch on the radio! :P if you buy any art book it has nothing todo with the music of Dead Can Dance; it's not a piece of art by Dead Can Dance! But you are right - it's a little bit too expensive ... and a download code should be included for that price too (it isn't)!

Dionysus is the best Dead Can Dance album since Into The Labyrinth. Mythical, spiritual, magical, timeless... And an extraordinary experience. It is incredible what they did here with World Music !!
I find it short, boring and uninspired, albeit stunning-sounding. Makes perfect sense that DCD won't be playing any of the new material on tour next year.
