Wonderful story and just what the world needed. Great music and cool documentary to boot. Politicians in my eyes is unique and way, way ahead of it's time. I'm happy for the brothers finally getting the respect that they deserve. The song Freakin out was used on the TV show How I met your Mother.

some of the best music by one of the greatest bands I've ever heard. this group not only is the epitome of autonomy par excellence they're a perfect example of originality and identity in the history of rock music. death are the antithesis to boredom and the proof that it's possible to turn water to wine if only you have a vision and if only you know how to do it right. death once more assures me of what I am looking for in music; individual uniqueness.

Just picked this up second hand. Wow is this a fantastic pressing. I thank whomever dropped this off at the local store.

great sound, perfect pressing, killer band, a must have.. as good as life!
Uickabrod
Excellent pressing! You can feel the music like you're time travelling to the 70's punk style!

I feel that this is a very important album. Plus, it sounds great on vinyl. Great release!

While the Johnny Rotten's & Joey Ramones's of the world were still taking remedial junior math classes, these three brothers from Detroit were recording the most fully-formed punk record the world would have ever seen. Unfortunately, every label turned them down and they never got paid proper dues (for basically inventing PUNK, sans "proto-") until the tapes were re-discovered and released by the beloved souls at Drag City in 2009.

mmudskipper, you must not have seen the part in my last comment where I said:"So, in closing, I am admitting defeat. You guys are correct. Punk was more developed in 1975 than I suggest in my original review....But I still love the line I wrote about remedial maths classes, so I'm keeping it"I agree with your points. I think you're pretty much correct. Except for one thing... which is that Funhouse came out in 1970 ;)Cheers

Euphonics, my friend, please read up and your history and do a little research on the timeline of punk before regurgitating the same awful drivel Drag City put out for the world to read because they wanted to sell a lot of merch. I mean, this is an awesome record and story without any need for fabrication about "inventing punk." The Stooges put out Fun House in 1971 (!), two years before these guys put out their first 7", which was a funk record, as RockFire Funk Express. The Ramones had played CBGB dozens of times before the end of 1974, and there was already a zine called "Punk" by then. There is, of course, the additional problem that this is not punk music. It's hard rock. But never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Hey dudes, I'm just seeing these comments now. mmudskipper brings up a good point about the Stooges. One could also make a solid case by bringing up The MC5, The Monks, The Sonics, or The New York Dolls. But I was trying to distinguish the specifically "punk" sound that Death had, which appears to me as being a more thorough transformation of punk than what the Stooges did. Not proto-punk, not hard rock (but I understand that even that would be debatable). But then BaronBlood5 brings up an even better point, and reminds me that even The Ramones were around at that time. I actually didn't think they came until a couple years later. So, in closing, I am admitting defeat. You guys are correct. Punk was more developed in 1975 than I suggest in my original review. ...But I still love the line I wrote about remedial maths classes, so I'm keeping it ;)

This a great record, no doubt, but you have heard of The Stooges, right?
great ant
Doubtful, since the world wasn't as connected like it is now.

What!?These "demos" were recorded in 1975...yes?The RAMONES were the talk of the underground since their first assault on a audience in august 1974https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-ramones-play-their-first-public-gig-at-cbgbs-in-downtown-manhattan.The Ramones COULD have inspired this former FUNK band...no?
