Why does this appear under "Unofficial" releases, when the same pressings are present under "Official" ones???
Here it is folks! It's being pressed by Music on Vinyl and limited to 2500 numbered copies on flaming orange. Also of note on the MOV site it says "Not available for the UK". Does that mean it's a USA release only? Check out the link:
Its available in Poland for sure though close to being sold out already. looks great by the way
Yllk UK offer but plenty showing in the EU
Looks like the seriously expensive vinyl box set in flight case has been pulled / revised & is now a 4 album (8LP) set featuring this album but at £140 a set, needs to be released individually, far too pricey
On Steve Hoffman forums, someone mentioned that they were going to release it sometime by the end of this year, but it would be a remastered and expanded version. Work has already been done remastering the album and the new artwork by Mike Coles which is not the cover used on the CD version. It was also supposed to have been released in an expensive pledge box set with all the studio albums, but that did not seem to go through. The plan all along was to have this released as a stand alone vinyl. Perhaps it will get released eventually, but maybe it has been delayed.
It is available on vinyl if you can afford a super expensive box set.
lets go baby
Just going to join the crowd and ask for a vinyl release. PLEASE. It just needs to happen. It hurts to only be able to listen to such a classic on CD.
Only if you have the money for a worthless box set.
My neighbors would listen to this every weekend full blast - thats why I was evicted...VINYL PLEASE
Two things... First, I have to agree with the rest of the posts here. This is in desperate need of a vinyl pressing. Second, is there a version out there that is not censored in Total Invasion? Specifically "It's a f****** crusade". It seems that every version I have heard has it censored.
The English band Killing Joke was founded in 1978 and plays a mix of metal, punk and industrial as well as light disco-influences are audible. Especially in the 1980s, the band was good and were a lot of records. In 1988 loved Killing Joke officially to exist but with ' incidental ' releases in 1990, 1994, 1996 and 2003, the band never actually been away at all. Striking is that the plates in the 1990s come true all very hard and aggressive. This self-titled album put that line tirelessly. Singer and keyboardist Jaz Coleman has all his frustration and anger over the past few years in ten songs to know gags and the whole also by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Nirvana drummer drums. The result? An explosive metal/industrial-album to the best work of Killing Joke.
No vinyl issue of this brilliant killing joke release !!! I can't believe it!! Please do it!!!
Seriously, how his this never been issued on vinyl? Let's do it!
Another victim of the so called loudness war. Please remaster for vinyl!!!
Vinyl release please! ~*~
How has this album never had a vinyl release? Record labels of the world, you know what to do....
Long time KJ fan since my simultaneous discovery in 1984 of S/T (Malicious Damage) 1980 and “Night Time” 1985. Soon after "Pandemonium", I was left quite wanting with "Democracy" which left me quite unimpressed with a band with whom I usually had quite a strong passionate reaction to. With only a few all-too-rare compilation/soundtrack submissions ("Drug", "Hollywood Babylon"), KJ had pretty much dissapeared completely in the second part of the 90s, that is until the post 9-11 crisis which allow the Joke to return in 2003 with both Raven and Youth sharing bass duties (although Geordie went on record saying he performed bass on about half the album) and ex-Nirvana & Foo Fighters main man Dave Grohl stepping in on the drums in post-production, replacing the drum-machine parts KJ were using during their own recording session."Killing Joke" (2003) is their second self-titled album, adding to the confusion when referencing their 1980 debut, and is sometimes overheard being referenced as their "Clown" album. This "return" record for KJ sees the band back in absolutely full form, perhaps stepping it up a few notches if at all possible, after having disapeared for the better part of about 7 years. Mixing repetitive hard guitar riffs with very relevant lyrics (then and now) centered around the world state of being after the Bush Jr administration, the LP runs as a non-stop assault on the senses, grabbing the listener into its fevered aggression and barely letting go for the spaces between songs."The Death And Resurection Show", a most brilliant choice to open up the album, is as addictive as it is anthemic. "Total Invasion" slightly slows down the tempo but adds to the fierceness with Jaz introducing his up-close-to-the-microphone throat gargling roars and angry whispers (also used on "Dark Forces" and on later records). "Implant" is often considered one of the finest pieces from the album, alternating between a semi floating verse and a seminal strong chorus, while never skipping a beat. "Blood On Your Hands" is perhaps the theme song for any bottom-level office employee working for worldwide greedy conglomerates. An excellent exorcism of sorts for those frustrated at the powerful rich and unable to do anything about it. "Loose Canon", which was strangely enough released as a single, pretty much sums up the state of mind of too many of today's police and armed forces. Gatherers will once again wish to crucify me as I state that "You'll Never Get to Me" is the low point of the record, fitting in in terms of sound and production but seemingly off by its melodic composition. "Seeing Red" sounds almost identical to "Blood On Your Hands" in guitar riff, and is saved by Jaz's poignant vocal stylings alternating between bitter and fearless frustration. "Dark Forces" is a darker, slower piece which is no where less potent in its aggressive delivery than anything else on the record, showcasing that tempo does not dictate power nor passion. Ending off with a somewhat emotionally charged "The House That Pain Built" which almost touches the sensitive aspect before jumping into a powerful chorus and comeback making this piece just as strong as any other off the record. There's a Japanese version of the record with bonus tracks. "Inferno" is an odd number when compared to the album's core pieces, offering a much more bass-oriented feel with compassionate-charged lyrics from Jaz. "Zennen" also follows with the bass-oriented theme but is more akin to a softer "gothic" audience than anything heard on the LP. There is also another version of "Seeing Red" which is obviously a drum-machine based earlier recording. All in all, "Killing Joke" (2003) is nothing short but a powerful, loud, and strong offering from the band which probably rekindled some of their earlier and older fans as well as attracted new ones who weren't aware of the Joke before then. Plus of course, having Dave Grohl on drums most certainly helped propel this record further into the mainstream limelight just by association. I give this one a rating of highly recommended for both old timers and new listeners using this as a starting point, since both stylistically and thematically speaking, most of the following Joke records would retain this type of energy and intensity.
This brilliant album seriously needs to be put out on vinyl!
you got a point there !
